Prescriber Services / Medication Management

Collaborative, holistic psychiatric care — thoughtfully integrated with therapy

At Alliance Counseling Works, we believe mental health care is most effective when it is personalized, relational, and holistic. Our prescriber services are designed to support clients through comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and medication management while honoring the whole person — not just symptoms.

Medication can be a helpful tool for some individuals, but it is never treated as the only solution. Our goal is to provide care that feels balanced, informed, and empowering, whether someone is exploring medication for the first time, seeking ongoing management, or hoping to reduce reliance on medication when appropriate.

What Are Prescriber Services?

Prescriber services include psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management provided by a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). These services may be helpful for individuals who are:

  • Considering whether medication may be beneficial
  • Needing medication adjustments or monitoring
  • Experiencing new or changing mental health symptoms
  • Seeking a more coordinated approach alongside therapy

Prescriber services can be used on their own or integrated with counseling services at Alliance Counseling Works.

Telehealth Prescriber Services Across Texas

All prescriber appointments are provided via secure telehealth, allowing clients to access care from the comfort and privacy of their own space.

Because services are delivered virtually, prescriber appointments are available to clients located anywhere in the state of Texas. This model allows for greater flexibility, accessibility, and continuity of care — without the need to travel to an office.

Telehealth visits are conducted using a HIPAA-compliant platform and are designed to feel personal, supportive, and easy to navigate.

Our Approach to Medication Management

Our approach is patient-centered, trauma-informed, evidence-based, and holistic.

We believe effective mental health care considers the whole person, including emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, lifestyle, stressors, and personal values. Medication is approached as one tool among many, not a default or quick fix.

We prioritize:

  • Thorough psychiatric evaluations
  • Education and transparent discussion of options
  • Shared decision-making
  • Careful consideration of benefits, risks, and side effects
  • Ongoing review and adjustment over time

When appropriate, treatment focuses on helping clients reach their goals in ways that feel healthy, sustainable, and not overly dependent on medication alone.

A Holistic, Balanced Perspective

Our prescriber works from a holistic perspective, supporting clients in building long-term stability and well-being — not just symptom relief.

This may include:

  • Using the lowest effective dose when medication is indicated
  • Regularly reassessing whether medication remains necessary
  • Supporting clients who wish to reduce medication reliance when clinically appropriate
  • Collaborating with therapists to strengthen coping skills, insight, and emotional regulation

When medication reduction is appropriate, this is done thoughtfully, gradually, and safely, always prioritizing the client’s well-being.

The goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to support clients in developing a foundation for lasting mental and emotional health.
